Obunga

GM's Notes: I created this school to give my Midnight Archipelago cannibals an offensive spear school instead of the more defensive/trick-focused Naghem.
Obunga is the terrible fighting style of many Midnight Islanders, full of shouting and fury. Its practitioners learn shouts and roars and often decorate themselves with skulls, bones, or frightening face-paint to underscore the fury of their attacks.
Because Obunga derives so much of its power from the raw fury of its adherents, a canny opponent can channel that fury and anger into opening a weakness through which a skilled swordsman can strike.
Country of Origin: Midnight Archipelago
Curriculum: Polearm, Hunter
Swordsman Knacks: Lunge, Corps-a-Corps, Tagging, Exploit Weakness (Obunga)
- Apprentice: Obunga teaches its proponents to use the length of their spear as well as the fury of their attacks as a power in combat, also teaching a deadly spear spin that can keep opponents away as they scream and taunt at their opponents. They receive a bonus to their Initiative Total equal to their ranks in Attack (Polearm) and - because of their Spear Spin - a +5 to active defenses involving a spear.
- Journeyman: Obunga journeymen are frightening, painted-faced warriors. They receive a Fear Rating equal to their Mastery Level.
- Master: Masters of Obunga are so adept at using their masks, bones, and screams to upset their enemies that they can force a new Fear Check by shouting and waving their weapons by spending a single Action.
