Four heroes have come together in Ormangac, in the province of Crieux -- and perhaps their struggles are the struggles of a whole Montaigne people.

Amelie d'If

Lady Amelie Roselle d'If is a Musketeer, assigned to the Ormagnac district, a rural land of wine and brandy. Her father, Count Georges, is the lord d'If, and she is close to the young Marquis, six-year-old Henri d'Or. Strong of arm and with a sharp sword, she is a lone figure for L'Empereur's law in a place far from Crieux.

Etienne d'If

Heir to the Comte d'If, Etienne Roselle d'If is Lady Amelie's elder brother. He is a world traveler; he was gone for a decade and only recently returned, and while he seems to have many stories from his time away he has also not aged at all, and is trying to re-adapt to the pace of rural life.

Kieran Kerrigan

Half-Inish, half-Montaigne, Kieran Kerrigan is a rough sailor more at home at sea or on the docks than he is in the courts of the mighty. Still, he is a loyal friend to Vicomte Etienne and a servant to Count Georges, and his knowledge of the underbellies of the world is useful always to heroes.

He once served in the Avalon navy, under Captain John Blake, but he was part of a mutiny against Blake by the infamous William Monk. Monk set him adrift, and now he is hunted by the pirate lord.

Jacques d'Paix

This traveling nobleman Jacques d'Paix is a man of unknown background and unknown mysteries; while clearly noble, his origins are obscure, but he is a man easily able to move in the salons of high society.
