These rules are in flux and represent a beta stab at Wealth for ships and sailing crews.

Treasury

When a ship makes money, it increases its Treasury -- essentially, Wealth points for ships. Unlike characters, however, ships aren't assumed to have enough Treasury to pay for their upkeep and maintenance unless they are employed by a navy or merchant concern.

General Treasury awards look like:

  • Carrying Cargo: 1-3 Treasury per Cargo point, as described in the corebook, p. 253.
  • Piracy: 3-5 Treasury per captured ship's hold.
  • Prizes: 5 Treasury for a small ship, 10 Treasury for a medium size ship, 15 Treasury for a large ship.

Upkeep

When ships make port, they will need to pay Upkeep out of their Treasury:

  • 1 Treasury for general stores and maintenance.
  • 1 Treasury if the ship has taken a particularly lengthy voyage.
  • 1 Treasury for each time the ship has taken serious damage from combat or environmental hazards.

You need to pay Upkeep for Prizes too before they can be sold!

Payout

The Captain and Quartermaster can decide to pay the Crew out of the Treasury. For every 1 Treasury paid out, the Crew receive wealth by shares:

Captain, Quartermaster: 3 Wealth per 1 Treasury. Ship's Officers: 2 Wealth per 1 Treasury. Sailors: 1 Wealth per 1 Treasury.
